Since the faculty aims at producing professional musicians with
not only an expert technique and knowledge of music
but also a broad insight into other fields of study,
it offers wide variety of lectures and seminars.
The students are expected to acquire a broad view of things
and an academic method to grasp humanity, society and nature as a whole,
and then, they can hope to give full scope to their professional knowledge
and technical expertise.

Graduate School of Music
In order to meet the growing social demand for musicians and
teachers of music with a higher artistic standard,
the master's degree program was opened in 1986.
The program concentrates on producing professionals with higher academic and
technical expertise by initiating the students into deep knowledge of art,
methods of conducting original research and artistic skills
with which they can express themselves.
Concerts
The faculty gives regular concerts in spring, autumn and winter,
and on graduation every year at Kyoto Kaikan (Kyoto City Hall) or
University Auditorium to open to the public the results of
private and group lessons.
More than thirty minor concerts are given on Tuesday evenings
at Auditorium, which enable the students to perform in public
to test the result of their minor studies.
