  1. Persons qualified for admission to the Graduate School of Art should meet both criteria A and B.
    1. You should be one of the following terms:
      Those who have finished an undergraduate course in a college or a university.
      Those who have finished a school education for 16 years abroad.
      Those who are appointed by the Minister of Education.
      Those who are recognized by our Graduate School as having attainments equal to those who have finished an undergraduate course in a college or a university.
    2. Those who can speak Japanese well enough to study.

  2. Necessary documents:
    1. Application form. (Use provided form.)
    2. Official certificate of graduation from Bachelor's course and official transcripts of university records.
      (No photocopies. Diploma is not acceptable.)
    3. Study program.
      (Describe in detail and as concretely as possible your past major field of study and your desired major field of study at Kyoto City University of Arts.)
    4. Photograph, slides of your work or photocopies of your papers.
      (Applicants for History of Art should submit photocopies of papers.)
    5. Certificate of Japanese proficiency.
      (No photocopy. It should be certified by a public organization of a Japanese language institution.)
    6. Letter of recommendation written by your advisor or an alternative person.
      (No photocopy.)
    7. Health certificate.
      (No photocopy. It should be certified within recent three months.)
    8. Letters of the guarantor in Japan and the financial supporter.
      (Use provided form.)
    9. Four full-faced photographs (4 x 4cm).

  3. Admissions are judged on the basis of application form, papers, and works, and are decided by the president of Kyoto City University of Arts.
    Notification will be made by post.

  7. The period of attendance of foreign students is limited to two years. The school year starts on April 1 and ends on March 31.
    First semester: April to September
    Second semester: October to March

  8. There is no financial aid program at the University, and no dormitory either on campus or off campus.

  9. Tuition (as of April 2003): 496,800yen (one year) / 248,400yen (one semester)
    Registration Fee: 84,600yen (at the time you enter)
    (In addition, the cost of materials is necessary.)

  10. Six months' study in this course will qualify you to take the entrance examination of the Master course of our university.

    Please make a request to the office of admission for the application form by post with six International Reply Coupons enclosed.
